The Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards (GAEA) has officially unveiled the nominees for its 2026 edition, marking a historic milestone as the prestigious ceremony prepares to celebrate its seventh anniversary with an even more glamorous and competitive lineup. As one of the most anticipated events in Ghana’s entertainment calendar, the GAEA continues to redefine excellence, innovation, and creativity across the country’s dynamic arts and media landscape.

A Legacy of Recognition and Inspiration

Since its inception, the GAEA has evolved from a modest initiative into a highly respected platform that honors the relentless dedication of entertainers, artists, and creative professionals. Founded by Abena Ghana, the awards scheme was born out of a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of recognition. “Entertainment is more than just performance—it’s a force that shapes culture, inspires generations, and drives societal progress,” Abena Ghana remarked during a press briefing. “I wanted to create a space where the unsung heroes—those who work tirelessly behind the scenes and shine brightly on screen—could finally be celebrated for their contributions.”

Over the past six years, the GAEA has grown exponentially, expanding its reach, refining its selection process, and solidifying its reputation as the most credible awards ceremony in Ghana. While the core mission—to spotlight talent, foster professionalism, and encourage excellence—remains unchanged, the awards have undergone significant transformations, including enhanced category diversity, stricter eligibility criteria, and a more inclusive nomination process.

A Rigorous and Competitive Selection Process

This year’s nominations were determined through one of the most rigorous and transparent selection processes in the history of the GAEA. A highly esteemed jury panel, comprising industry veterans, critics, and media professionals, evaluated nominees based on six key criteria:
1. Talent and Artistry – Demonstrated skill, innovation, and originality in their craft.
2. Excellence in Performance – Consistency in delivering high-quality work across projects.
3. Professionalism – Adherence to industry standards, ethical conduct, and industry contributions.
4. Impact and Influence – The ability to shape public opinion, trends, and cultural narratives.
5. Achievements and Milestones – Notable career accomplishments, awards, and industry recognition.
6. Overall Contribution – Long-term influence on Ghanaian entertainment and beyond.

“This year’s nominees represent the pinnacle of what it means to excel in Ghana’s entertainment industry,” Abena Ghana stated. “We received an unprecedented number of submissions, and our jury had the challenging yet rewarding task of narrowing down the best of the best. The caliber of talent this year is truly remarkable.”

Notable Nominees Across Diverse Categories

The 2026 GAEA nominations span multiple categories, including but not limited to:
– Best Actress in a Leading Role – Abena Kyei Boakye (), Maybel Okyere, Odehyieba Priscilla
– Best Actor in a Leading Role – Jeneral Ntatia, Kwaku Power, Oheneba Jude
– Best New Talent – Quecyofficial, Rosegold, Afia Sikapa
– Best Music Video – Ama Oduma Odoom ([IMAGE_2]), alongside other groundbreaking visual artists
– Best Director – Nominees recognized for their visionary work in film, TV, and digital media
– Best Supporting Performance – Honoring actors and actresses who elevate stories with their roles
– Best Creative Achievement – Celebrating innovation in music production, fashion, and behind-the-scenes work

The list also includes emerging talents who have already made significant waves in the industry, proving that the GAEA is not just about established names but also about nurturing the next generation of stars.

A Night of Unforgettable Celebration

The 7th Annual Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Estees Bee Event Center, East Legon Underbridge. The event promises to be a spectacle of glamour, entertainment, and industry recognition, with the following key details:
– Red Carpet & Arrivals: 6:00 PM – A star-studded arrival featuring Ghana’s most influential personalities.
– Main Awards Ceremony: 8:00 PM – The grand finale where nominees and special guests will be honored for their outstanding contributions.
– Live Performances & Entertainment: A lineup of high-energy acts, including live music, dance performances, and surprise appearances.
– Networking & After-Party: An exclusive post-ceremony event for attendees to mingle and celebrate.

A Decade of Unwavering Support

The success of the GAEA would not be possible without the unwavering support of its headline sponsor, Time Herbal Mixture, led by CEO Nana Otafregya Owusu Agyeman. For seven consecutive years, the company has played a pivotal role in ensuring the event’s smooth execution, high production value, and widespread reach.

“We are deeply grateful to Nana Otafregya Owusu Agyeman and the entire Time Herbal Mixture team for their unwavering commitment to this cause,” Abena Ghana expressed. “Their partnership has been instrumental in turning the GAEA into a benchmark for excellence in Ghana’s entertainment industry. Without their generosity, we would not have been able to achieve the level of impact we have today.”

What to Expect in 2026

As the countdown to the 7th GAEA begins, fans and industry stakeholders can anticipate:
✅ A more diverse and inclusive lineup – With a stronger focus on emerging talents and underrepresented voices.
✅ Cutting-edge production – Enhanced staging, immersive visuals, and a seamless digital experience.
✅ Surprise performances – Exclusive collaborations with Ghana’s biggest names in music and entertainment.
✅ A celebration of cultural heritage – Special segments recognizing Ghana’s rich artistic traditions.

“This year’s awards are not just about handing out trophies—they’re about celebrating the stories, struggles, and triumphs of those who make Ghana’s entertainment industry thrive,” Abena Ghana concluded. “We invite everyone to join us in honoring these extraordinary individuals and to be part of a night that will be remembered for years to come.”

The Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards 2026 is set to redefine what it means to celebrate excellence in Ghana’s creative sector, promising an evening of unmatched glamour, heartfelt recognition, and unforgettable moments.
