Nigeria’s politics lacks standards -Arewa Consultative Forum

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has said that Nigeria’s politics lacks standards because the citizens do not demand accountability.

The Publicity Secretary of the Forum, Professor Tukur Mohammed Baba, made this assertion on Tuesday when he featured in an interview on Arise Television.

He said that the governance of Nigeria in the last four years has had a negative impact on citizens, in spite of any positive micro statistics provided.

“There is no standard in Nigeria’s politics because we do not demand accountability. Our politics and laws are always flexible. If you look at the country, no institution is going straight, including the judiciary.

“People have filtered through with fake credentials; that is the nature of the politics we play. We are flexible in our demands for the country and in our demand for accountability.

“The Nigerian electorate is not a formless group that has the same interests and so on. They are divided into sections. The average person on the street is probably mesmerised about all this.

“What matters to them is the effect of good governance. At the end of the day, is the person on top able to deliver good governance that satisfies welfare, health, education, housing, transportation, and so on?

“I think the vast majority of our population is more concerned about the impact of governance on their everyday life than the actual qualification of the person in power,” he said.
