Preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations: Côte d’Ivoire defeat Kenya
As part of the build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire claimed a 1-0 victory over Kenya in a friendly match held on Wednesday at Stade Alassane Ouattara in Ebimpé.
Côte d’Ivoire secured the title of the preparatory mini-tournament for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which also featured Benin and Kenya. The competition concluded on Wednesday, with the Elephants edging out the Harambee Starlets of Kenya 1-0.
The only goal of the match was scored by Rebecca Amon Elo in the 22nd minute.

With this result, Côte d’Ivoire celebrated their second consecutive win, following their opening 2-0 triumph over the Benin Amazons.
Kenya, meanwhile, suffered their second defeat after previously losing 2-0 to Benin.
This mini-tournament served as the perfect preparation for both Côte d’Ivoire and Kenya ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, while Benin—who did not qualify for the finals—seized the chance to compete against top sides and gain valuable experience.
