Quansah explained that he and his wife had planned to have just one more child Quansah explained that he and his wife had planned to have just one more child

Emmanuel Quansah, a resident of Wassa Attieku in the Wassa East District, says he has had a change of heart after initially contemplating fleeing from his family following the birth of quadruplets.

The babies were delivered at the Twifo Praso Government Hospital, an event that left him overwhelmed by the unexpected medical costs.

According to him, the financial burden triggered thoughts of absconding and even discharging his wife and the newborns against medical advice in order to avoid the mounting hospital bills.

Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Quansah, who already has three children, explained that he and his wife had planned to have just one more child.

He revealed that prenatal scans had initially indicated they were expecting triplets; however, the delivery of four babies instead of three created an immediate financial crisis for the family.

He noted that all four newborns require incubator care, while his wife is recovering from a Caesarean section.

As a result, the medical expenses have become overwhelming, prompting his appeal for assistance from the government, private individuals, and non-governmental organisations.

Reflecting on his initial panic and renewed commitment to his family, Quansah said, “We already have three children and wanted one more, but unfortunately, she has delivered quadruplets.

Initially, the scans that were done showed the babies were triplets, but it turned out to be quadruplets. It is true I wanted to abscond but I have been advised against that and so I will no longer do that.

“I am prepared to provide that fatherly love for my children. We are still at the hospital. The babies are in incubators. The hospital has also stated that my wife will need a transfusion because she is currently weak.”

In light of the situation, Quansah disclosed that the couple does not intend to have any more children.

He added that he has requested his wife to undergo a sterilisation procedure, specifically a tubal ligation, to prevent future pregnancies.
