India vs South Africa: Team India faced a tense moment in Ahmedabad during practice ahead of their important T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match against South Africa. A powerful shot from Hardik Pandya accidentally hit teammate Mohammed Siraj on his left knee, raising fresh injury concerns.
According to reports from the Narendra Modi Stadium, Siraj was seen in visible pain after the incident during training on Friday evening. He reportedly hobbled out of the nets, worrying fans and team management just before the big clash.
India are preparing for a high pressure match against South Africa, which is also a rematch of the T20 World Cup 2024 final. The winner will move one step closer to securing a semi final spot.
The team has already faced several health issues in the tournament. Jasprit Bumrah and Abhishek Sharma missed one match each due to illness, while Washington Sundar was also unwell. Before the tournament, Harshit Rana was ruled out due to injury and Siraj received a late call up.
Siraj has played only one match so far in this World Cup, against the USA, where he impressed with three wickets. In other matches, Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh were preferred in the playing eleven.
Meanwhile, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel spoke about the team’s bowling strength before the South Africa game. He backed spinner Varun Chakaravarthy as a key wicket taking option.
“Varun is obviously a strike bowler for us. He’s done really well in the World Cup so far, even before the World Cup. He’s a go-to guy for us with Bumrah and the other bowlers who can take wickets,” Morkel said.
With such an important match coming up, Team India will hope that Siraj’s injury is not serious. Fans across the country are now waiting for an official update on his fitness before the crucial South Africa clash.
