From celebrity controversies and candid confessions to joyful family milestones and industry breakthroughs, the Nigerian entertainment scene has been buzzing nonstop. This week, music stars, content creators, and Nollywood heavyweights all made headlines for reasons ranging from social media drama and relationship talk to career-defining achievements and celebrations.

Here’s a roundup of the stories making waves across the entertainment space.

Afrobeats star Davido sparked conversations online after reacting angrily to claims that he allegedly owes a wedding planner $50,000 following his lavish wedding to Chioma. The allegation, reportedly made by Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, CEO of the company said to have handled the wedding, went viral alongside an alleged chat showing threats of legal action. Reacting on X (formerly Twitter), Davido dismissed the claim as baseless, describing the call-out as “crazy,” a response that further fueled debate among fans and social media users.

In the influencer space, Nigerian TikTok star Jarvis also made headlines following her highly publicised breakup with fellow content creator Peller. Speaking in a video, Jarvis claimed that women tend to move on from breakups faster than men, crediting her confidence and self-assurance for her ability to move on swiftly. While Jarvis insists she has moved on, Peller appears to still be struggling, as he recently vowed never to give love another chance or marry a Nigerian woman. The breakup recalls a troubling episode in December last year when Peller was involved in a deliberate car accident linked to emotional distress over the relationship.

On a happier note, Nollywood actress Bidemi Kosoko, daughter of veteran actor Jide Kosoko, welcomed a new child, drawing warm reactions from colleagues and fans. The joyful announcement was shared by her sister, actress Sola Kosoko, who praised God and invited the public to celebrate the newest addition to the Kosoko and Bankole families. The news was met with an outpouring of congratulatory messages across social media.

Veteran actress and box-office queen Funke Akindele also made waves after opening up about the sacrifices behind her success. The billionaire filmmaker revealed that she deliberately deprived herself of social activities, vacations, and even friendships for years to focus on building her brand. Akindele disclosed that she isolated herself in Amen Estate for three years to work tirelessly on projects like Jenifa, Aiyetoro, and Industreet. Her hard work has paid off, as she recently broke her own record by producing Nigeria’s first film to gross over ₦2 billion at the box office.

Meanwhile, actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo shed light on how piracy was tackled during the release of his hit film Ageshinkole 2. According to him, strategic collaboration with Circuit TV and Blue Pictures, alongside a unique community cinema tour, helped curb piracy and drive massive success. The film reportedly grossed over ₦400 million within its first 12 days. Adebayo explained that the innovative distribution approach allowed the movie to reach grassroots audiences while maintaining control over piracy.

From controversy to celebration and innovation, these stories once again highlight the dynamism of Nigeria’s entertainment industry and why it never stays quiet for long.
