Former Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh, says his perception of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has changed following the support he received from its members after losing the party’s Ashanti Regional Secretary election.

According to him, more NDC members reached out to him after the election than members of his own party, an experience he said came as a surprise.

Speaking in a video sighted by GhanaWeb on September 10, 2026, Yandoh said the development had caused him to reconsider his previous views about the NDC.

“When I lost the recent Ashanti Regional Secretary race, I must confess, more NDC members called me than NPP members, and I was just shocked,” he said.

He said the experience had given him a different perspective on the NDC, particularly regarding its members’ interest in political contests and the individuals involved.

“I now have a different mindset about the NDC. What I have learned is that they are interested in who becomes what,” he stated.

Yandoh noted that, before the election, he had held a different view of the NDC, but the support he received from its members had changed that perception.

“Unlike the NPP, the NDC took interest in my election. Previously, I had a different mentality about that, but this has changed my perception about them,” he added.

Yandoh secured 105 votes in the elections held on August 15, 2026, but lost to Francis Adomako, who won with 492 votes.

His campaign attracted attention after Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene publicly endorsed and campaigned for him on social media.
