A Streetwise 2 for R2 is the sort of fast-food offer that sounds as if it belongs in 1992, but a video posted on Tuesday, 8 September, claims that South Africans can get exactly that deal through the KFC app.
Briefly News reports that TikTok user @u_zziii filmed herself in a car with KFC bags after redeeming the offer. Her on-screen caption read: “KFC Streetwise 2 for only R2, please don’t walk, run!!!”
According to her account, the trick is meant for people signing into the KFC app for the first time. She said her attempt to order online failed, so she went to a restaurant, signed up, scanned a QR code on the in-store screen and redeemed the meal at the counter.

There is an important bit of chicken-wire around this story, though. The current R2 promotion and its conditions do not appear on KFC South Africa’s public promos page, and KFC had not publicly confirmed this specific September offer when we checked. Briefly’s report is therefore the only available account of the current deal, so take the offer with a pinch of secret herbs and spices.
KFC has run a promotion with the same headline price before. In a November 2024 post, KFC Africa said its Black Friday campaign offered a Streetwise 2 for R2 exclusively through the app, limited to the first 1 000 customers each day. That does not confirm the new claim, but it does mean R2 chicken is not unprecedented corporate folklore.
The app currently has a public Promos & Rewards page, while KFC’s online menu lists Streetwise meals. Neither public page displayed readable terms for the reported first-sign-in reward when checked on Wednesday evening.
Briefly quoted commenters who said they had tried to claim the offer, with some reporting success and others saying it was not appearing or had finished. One user wrote, “I think it’s finished, guys.”
That leaves bargain hunters with a fairly cheap experiment: check the rewards section before travelling, then ask at the counter. If the offer appears, R2 is an absurdly good supper. If it does not, at least the disappointment costs less than the petrol used to chase it.
