‘Obi Can—and Will—Rescue Nigeria Because He Has Antecedents’ – Obi Media Office

Idris Zekeri Jnr POMR Spokesman in a statement dated September 7, 2026, made available to Daily News Nigeria on Monday, the media aides stated, “Obi Can—and Will—Rescue Nigeria Because He Has Antecedent.”

.

Parts of the statement further read:

.

“Our attention has been drawn to a recent statement made by a former Vice Presidential candidate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, expressing the profound depth of the systemic challenges facing Nigeria by stating that no single individual, including H.E. Peter Obi, can rescue the nation.

.

“Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed’s suggestion that not even Peter Obi can rescue Nigeria is understandable as an expression of frustration, but it is not a conclusion supported by the facts.

.

“Nigeria is undoubtedly in deep trouble. Years of mismanagement, corruption, waste, and poor leadership have weakened our institutions and placed an enormous burden on citizens. But precisely because the problems are so serious, Nigerians need to distinguish between political promises and demonstrated capacity.

.

“Peter Obi does not approach Nigeria’s challenges as an experiment. His record in Anambra provides evidence of what he can do with limited resources when public office is treated as a responsibility rather than an opportunity for personal enrichment.

.

“He demonstrated fiscal discipline, prioritised education, healthcare, and human development, invested in critical infrastructure, reduced waste, and left behind a record that continues to be examined and debated long after he left office.

.

“Therefore, the question is not whether one individual can magically rescue Nigeria. No individual can. The question is whether Nigeria can elect a leader with the character, competence, prudence, and courage to begin the rescue. We believe Peter Obi can—and will.

.

“He will not do it alone. He will do it by building strong institutions, assembling competent Nigerians, confronting corruption, cutting waste, investing in production, and restoring confidence in government.

.

“Nigeria does not need a fake messiah. It needs leadership that understands that public money is public trust.

Peter Obi has demonstrated that understanding before. The task in 2027 is to allow him to demonstrate it at the national level.

.

“So, yes, Nigeria can be rescued.

And Peter Obi can lead that rescue — not because he claims to be a miracle worker, but because his record shows that he knows how to turn limited resources into measurable results.

With O-K, Nigeria is rescueable.
