Kenya’s sole presidential aircraft, a F70, has returned to the country following an extensive year-long overhaul, including interior and systems upgrades. The 1995-built aircraft, KAF308 (msn 11557), configured in a 26-seat VIP layout, departed Fokker Services Group’s Woensdrecht maintenance facilities on August 10, arriving at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta the following day after a stop at Cairo International. The aircraft has since completed several domestic sectors.
In late 2025, the Kenyan government’s cabinet secretary for defence Soipan Tuya said the F70 had been sent to Fokker Services Group on August 22, 2025, for a final maintenance cycle ahead of retirement, after the aircraft experienced repeated mechanical issues and parts became increasingly scarce and expensive. The F70 was initially expected to be phased out in 2026, shortly after returning to Kenya. However, the timing and plans for the retirement are now unclear.
