Ghana Stock Exchange posts high August index returns — MyJoyOnline

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) recorded a return of 71.90% for the Composite Index and 70.09% for the Financial Stocks Index at the end of August 2026. At the same time, prices rose for ten companies, while they declined for 16 companies, MyJoyOnline reports.

Trading activity and stock growth

A total of 133,867 trades were recorded on the GSE during the month, 323.86% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year. According to the exchange’s monthly review, shares of Dannex Ayrton Starwin PLC posted the largest gain, rising by 313.6%.

Shares of Digicut Production & Advertising PLC rose by 211.1%, Hords PLC by 125.6%, Unilever Ghana PLC by 35.6%, Clydestone (Ghana) PLC by 25.9%, and Cocoa Processing Co. PLC by 17.6%. Meridian Marshalls Holding Company, ZEN Petroleum Holdings PLC, TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC, and Ecobank Ghana PLC also recorded gains.

Declining quotations and the bond market

The largest drop in share price was recorded by Enterprise Group PLC, down 33.1%. Shares of Atlantic Lithium Ltd. lost 15.2%, Societe Generale Ghana PLC 12.1%, Cal Bank PLC 11.4%, Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC 10.2%, and Intravenous Infusions PLC 9.5%.

Other issuers whose quotations declined included GCB Bank PLC, Ghana Oil Company PLC, SIC Insurance Company PLC, Benso Palm Plantation PLC, Ecobank Transnational Inc., Access Bank Ghana PLC, Scancom PLC, Fan Milk PLC, and Standard Chartered Bank Gh. PLC.

Trading volume on the Ghana Fixed Income Market (GFIM) amounted to 48.99 billion in August, up 104.77% year on year. Government notes and bonds accounted for 52.77% of trading volume, treasury bills for 45.98%, and corporate bonds for 1.25%.
