Cape Coast, Sept 05, GNA – The Charles Walker Empowerment Foundation in collaboration with the organisers of Fantefest, a festival that seeks to project Fante culture and tradition, has unveiled a monument of Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Oguaamanhen.
This forms part of efforts to support the traditional institution and promote the development of Oguaa in the Central Region.
The initiative also forms part of activities to strengthen the partnership between traditional authorities, civil society organisations and stakeholders committed to the socio-economic and cultural development of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
Mr Charles Walker, who is the Founder of the Foundation, said the gesture was also intended to recognise the important role of the Oguaamanhen in preserving the cultural heritage, traditions and values of the people.
He noted that Osabarimba Kwesi Atta remained a key figure in mobilising the people and championing initiatives aimed at advancing the development of the area.
Mr Walker stated that the Foundation was committed to supporting traditional leadership and creating platforms that promoted unity, cultural pride and community development.
He expressed the hope that the initiative would encourage other individuals and organisations to support the Oguaa Traditional Council and contribute to the sustainable development of the area.
The unveiling formed part of activities marking the Fantefest celebrations, which seeks to showcase Fante culture, heritage and traditions, while creating opportunities for community engagement and development.
Mr Walker called on residents, businesses and development partners to support initiatives that promoted the preservation of Oguaa’s rich cultural heritage and contributed to the wellbeing of its people.
Osabarimba Kwesi Atta expressed his gratitude for the gesture and called for unity among the people, urging them to use the festive season to unite and promote their culture.
