A man identified as Jones Bogonko Onchonga made a surprise move after he allegedly convinced a Lodwar based clergy of his credentials and was allowed to lead Mass and administer sacraments to congregants.
According to Citizen TV Kenya, Catholic priest at St Augustine Cathedral said Onchonga, now in custody, didn’t go through the formal rite of ordination only performed by a bishop.
He is also married and had two children living in his home county of Kisii.
“For about three weeks, there were reportedly no questions about his identity, with Bishop John Mbinda even allowing him to stay at the bishop’s official residence,” Citizen said.
