NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 26 – The Government is stepping up efforts to complete and operationalise the first eight County Aggregation and Industrial Parks, (CAIPs), as part of its plan to accelerate Kenya’s industrialisation.

He made the remarks after chairing a high-level coordination meeting that brought together officials from the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, relevant Governors and government agencies responsible for key utilities, at his Karen Official Residence in Nairobi to review progress of the CAIPs program.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said the 8 counties are Meru, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Busia, Migori, Garissa and Wajir that are nearing completing their CAIPS.

The Deputy President has also announced that raw materials required for aggregation and value addition have already been mobilised, while frameworks for private-sector investors and operators are being finalized and the procurement of common-user facilities is now underway.

Kindiki says that CAIPs are expected to support local manufacturing, create jobs, and open new markets for farmers and other producers, while strengthening value addition at the county level thus all counties should prioritize them.
