South Africa rugby captain Siya Kolisi has recovered from a hamstring injury and will play against New Zealand in the second Test match of the series in Cape Town. Head coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed that the player completed training without complications and will be named in the starting lineup.

Kolisi’s recovery

As Channel NewsAsia reports, Erasmus included Kolisi in the starting XV on Monday, provided that he confirmed his readiness in training. After the session, the coach said Kolisi would start the match and lead the team onto the field as captain.

According to Erasmus, Kolisi had a grade-two tear. The coach noted that it was not as serious an injury as those the rugby player suffered before the 2019 and 2023 World Cups. He explained the cautious approach by saying that recovery from such an injury takes time.
