Some angry supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from Ayawaso Central Constituency stormed the party’s headquarters in Accra on Monday, August 10, 2026, demanding immediate attention to concerns over the constituency’s electoral album.

The supporters’ action disrupted activities at the party headquarters as they sought access to the party’s leadership to present their grievances.

They alleged that the constituency’s electoral album was fraught with challenges and accused the party leadership of failing to address their concerns.

Security personnel initially prevented the group from entering the premises, asking them to wait while their identities and the purpose of their visit were established.

Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Haruna Mohammed, said the party subsequently invited leaders of the group inside for discussions.

Speaking to Channel One News, he said the security personnel acted cautiously because the visit was unexpected.

“It was an impromptu [visit], and we didn’t know who they were, so we needed to know,” Mr Mohammed said.

He said the leaders were later invited into the headquarters, where party officials listened to their concerns and discussed how they could be resolved.

“We called the leaders in. We had a meeting. They were sitting in air conditioning, we provided them with water, we had a discussion.

“Their petition was just about their album, that they haven’t seen it, so they want to see it,” he said.

He said the party’s Elections Committee had been directed to meet the supporters on Tuesday, August 11, to resolve outstanding concerns involving two electoral areas mentioned in their petition. He added that the party’s Electoral Affairs Committee had also been briefed on the development.

According to him, the supporters were satisfied with the engagement and left the headquarters after the meeting.

The outcome of Tuesday’s meeting, he said, would determine the party’s next course of action on the Ayawaso Central electoral concerns.
