Sunyani, (Bono), July 7, GNA-Dr Jeff Wright, the Vice President, Innovation, Strategy and Enrolment at the Fanshawe College, Canada, has paid a two-day working visit to the Sunyani Technical University (STU).

His visit formed part of a broader partnership between STU and Fanshawe College aimed at establishing STU as a leading hub for EVs technology, green innovation, and technical education in West Africa.

Dr Wright toured the University’s Centre of Excellence in Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Green Technologies.

According to a statement issued by the Center, his visit was also part of ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between STU and Fanshawe College as well as strengthening industry partnerships to advance EV education, research, and innovation in Ghana.

Dr Wright was taken on a guided tour of the University’s EV laboratories and training facilities, where he was introduced to several electric vehicle projects being undertaken by both lecturers and students.

A copy of the statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani said that Dr Wright was briefed on the University’s progress in developing practical training programmes, research initiatives, and innovations.

That aimed at positioning STU as a national leader in electric mobility and green technologies, it stated.

The Reverend Dr Frimpong, the Head of Centre of Excellence in EVs and Green Technologies of the STU explained that the Centre was central to the institution’s vision of producing industry-ready graduates equipped with practical skills to meet the growing demand for clean transportation technologies.

Dr Wright later visited Almaden Motors, a Sunyani-based leading automobile auto-mobile dealer with expertise in conventional and EVs and to explore opportunities for industry collaboration.

It said discussions there centered mostly on practical training, student internships, industry attachments, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships.

That would provide students with hands-on industry experience while supporting Ghana’s transition to sustainable transportation.

The statement explained that the engagement reaffirmed STU’s dedication to building strong partnerships between academia and industry and to drive innovation, enhance employability, and accelerate the development of EVs technology and green skills in the country.
