The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced multiple power outages for Monday, June 8, 2026, affecting communities in the Ashanti, Tema, Accra East and Accra West Regions, with a combination of planned maintenance exercises and a technical challenge at a primary substation.

Ashanti Region outages

In the Ashanti Region, two separate planned maintenance exercises will take place on Monday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The first will affect Old Krapa and surrounding areas. The second will affect Aboaso, Ntonso, Mampong Korea, Akitibomo and surrounding areas. Both notices were originally issued on Friday, 5th June 2026.

Tema Region outages

In the Tema Region, planned maintenance will run from 10:00am to 4:00pm, affecting a wide range of communities including Tema International School, EU China Mall, Don Bosco, New Tulaku, Bethlehem, Sebrepor, White Estates, Emef Estates, Coastal Estates, Goshen, Gbetsile, Ososhie, Adom Estates, P.S. Global, Devtraco Estates, Lebanon Zones 3 and 4, Zenu, Atadeka, Megbedzre, Agbetikpo, Sikor, Tokpo, Tsumkpo and surrounding areas.

Accra East Region outage

In the Accra East Region, a planned maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00am to 4:00pm, affecting ECG Headquarters, Police City, Ashiye Fulani and surrounding areas.

Accra West Region outage and technical challenge

In the Accra West Region, planned maintenance will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm, affecting Tabora Numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6, Alhaji Trotro Station, Tantra Hill, Katapor, Edusa, New Achimota, Tantra Hill Roman and surrounding areas.

Separately, a power outage is currently being experienced in parts of the Accra West Region due to a technical challenge at the Kwashieman Primary Substation. The affected areas include Nyamekye, Abeka Lapaz, Fadama, Nii Boye Town, Ashawo Market, Darkuman Zongo, Darkuman Township, Kata Hostel and surrounding areas. ECG assured affected customers that engineers are working to rectify the fault and restore supply.

ECG regrets inconvenience

ECG has expressed regret for the inconvenience that will arise from all these exercises. The company has advised affected customers to make alternative arrangements for power-dependent activities during the specified hours.

All planned maintenance notices were originally issued between Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, 2026. ECG assured that power supply would be restored to all affected areas upon completion of the scheduled works. Customers have been encouraged to contact ECG’s official communication channels for further updates.

The technical challenge at the Kwashieman Primary Substation remains a priority for engineers, who are working to restore power to the affected communities as quickly as possible.
