The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has reminded the public to save and share emergency contact numbers as heavy rains continue to pose flood risks across the country, with the toll-free number 112 available for all disaster-related emergencies.
As the rainy season intensifies and concerns over potential dam spillage remain, NADMO has urged citizens to be prepared and act swiftly when flooding occurs. The organisation emphasised that heavy rains can turn streets into danger zones fast, and immediate reporting of emergencies can save lives.

The organisation advised that citizens who spot flooding, fallen trees or any emergencies should not wait but call immediately.
Flood safety advice
During the previous spillage of the Weija Dam, NADMO issued a public notice advising citizens to take several precautionary measures. Residents in flood-prone areas were advised to leave low-lying areas and move to higher grounds, alert neighbours to the danger, avoid walking or driving through flood waters, and carry essential items such as identification cards in waterproof bags.
NADMO reiterated that prevention pays and that preparedness is the key to minimising loss of life and property during disasters.
24/7 availability
The organisation noted that its emergency lines are toll-free and available around the clock, seven days a week. NADMO encouraged the public to save the numbers now and share them with family and friends, noting that “you never know who might need it today.”
Citizens have also been encouraged to follow NADMO on social media at @nadmoghana for more safety tips and real-time updates during emergencies.
The reminder comes at a critical time when several regions have experienced rainstorms and flooding in recent weeks, with the controlled spillage of the Weija Dam last month causing power outages and flooding in downstream communities including Ashbread, White Cross, Kinshasha and Tetegu.
NADMO continues to work with the Ghana Meteorological Agency, the Electricity Company of Ghana, the Ghana Water Company Limited and other stakeholders to monitor the situation and coordinate emergency responses. The public has been urged to cooperate fully with all emergency directives and advisories issued by relevant state institutions.
