Astroturf Ghana Limited, a leading sports infrastructure construction company in Ghana, has held a strategic meeting with the leadership of the National Sports Authority (NSA) to explore opportunities for advancing sports infrastructure development and improving the delivery of quality football pitches across the country. The meeting took place at the NSA headquarters in Accra.

Discussions focused on preparations for upcoming FIFA related competitions and the broader need to expand access to modern, durable and professionally constructed football facilities at the national, regional and community levels.

The Managing Director of Astroturf Ghana Limited, Mr Prince Boateng Gyebi, raised concern over negative publicity surrounding poorly constructed AstroTurf pitches in parts of the country, warning that substandard facilities undermine talent development and hinder player performance.

Both parties also examined the importance of high quality playing surfaces in athlete development, grassroots football, community engagement and the overall growth of Ghana’s sports ecosystem.

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Mr Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, stressed the need for stronger collaboration between public institutions and private sector players to deliver sustainable sports infrastructure that meets international standards.

He noted that every young footballer in Ghana deserves access to safe and professionally developed playing facilities, adding that the partnership discussions reaffirmed the commitment to expanding quality infrastructure and strengthening sports development nationwide.

The meeting further highlighted key focus areas, including improving football pitch quality across regions and districts, supporting grassroots and youth football development, promoting sustainable facility management practices, encouraging public private partnerships in sports infrastructure delivery, and positioning Ghana as a destination capable of hosting major regional and international sporting events.

Astroturf Ghana Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s sports development agenda through innovative turf solutions, technical expertise and strategic partnerships aimed at improving sporting infrastructure nationwide.

The company said it will continue to work closely with government agencies, sporting bodies, educational institutions, local authorities and private investors to deliver world class football pitches and recreational spaces across the country.

Also present at the meeting was the Chief Operating Officer of the National Sports Authority, Mr Yaw Gyamfi Kusi Awere.
