GHANA – Baibhav Biswas, Country Head of Olam Agri Ghana, has received the Agribusiness CEO of the Year award at the 2026 Ghana CEO Excellence Awards, adding to a period of growth and investment for the company in the country.
The award was presented during the Ghana CEO Summit in Accra. Organisers said it recognises business leaders who contribute to Ghana’s economic growth through industrial development, sustainable business practices, and support for local industries.
Olam Agri said the recognition reflects work carried out under Biswas’ leadership to strengthen local food production and support Ghana’s industrial growth plans. A key part of that effort has been the commissioning of the country’s first purpose-built pasta manufacturing facility.
The facility produces the First Choice Premium Spaghetti range and supports jobs across manufacturing, logistics, and distribution. Olam Agri said the investment forms part of its wider focus on increasing local value addition and supporting food security in Ghana.
Beyond manufacturing, the company has also invested in skills development through the Raising Generations Initiative. The programme is implemented in partnership with the Ghana TVET Service and helps young people gain baking and business skills that can support employment and entrepreneurship.
Speaking after receiving the award, Biswas credited the achievement to the people and communities connected to the business.
“This recognition belongs to our team and the communities we work with,” he said. “Our commitment is to build an agribusiness that creates sustainable, long-term value for Ghana through local production, skills development and partnerships that extend beyond transactions.”
The award follows another recent milestone for Olam Agri in Ghana. In April 2026, the company launched First Choice Premium Spaghetti, which it described as the first pasta brand produced fully in Ghana.
The product is manufactured, packaged, and distributed from Olam Agri’s factory in Kpone. Company officials said local production will help reduce dependence on imported pasta while improving access to affordable products for consumers.
During the launch event in Accra, brand ambassador Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku highlighted the product’s focus on family meals and value for consumers.
“Every Ghanaian mother wants to put a good meal on the table without second-guessing. That is exactly what this brand stands for,” she said.
Olam Agri said the pasta is now available in major retail outlets across Ghana as the company continues to expand its local manufacturing presence.
