Nigerian Police Force (NPF)

The Adamawa state police command has arrested one suspect in connection with an armed robbery attack that occurred around students’ residences near Adamawa state Polytechnic, Numan Campus.

According to the Police, the incident took place in the early hours of May 28, 2026, when a group of suspected hoodlums armed with cutlasses, sticks, and knives allegedly invaded a students’ compound located behind MOPE Extension in Numan local government council of the state.

The attackers reportedly dispossessed residents of cash, mobile phones, power banks, and other valuables during the operation.

Some of the victims were also confirmed to have sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the General Hospital, Numan, for treatment.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer,  Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Command disclosed that operatives attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Demsa, swiftly responded to the distress report and launched an investigation into the incident.

The Police confirmed that one suspect has been arrested so far, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who reportedly fled the scene.

Commissioner of Police in Adamawa state, Kabir Umar Hassan, according to the statement, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation.

The commissioner reassured students and residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

“The command remains committed to protecting lives and property and will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements,” the statement said.

The Police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
