‎Ghanaian singer and former Shatta Movement signee, Captan, has alleged that Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy was once arrested in Ghana over alleged marijuana use and later freed through the intervention of musician Shatta Wale.

Naija News reports that Captan made the claim during a recent podcast interview, where he spoke about Burna Boy’s past relationship with Shatta Wale and members of his music camp.

According to him, Shatta Wale directed him and some others to secure Burna Boy’s release from police custody after the singer was allegedly detained.

Speaking during the interview, Captan claimed that he personally participated in the effort to get the Grammy-winning singer released.

“I once bailed Burna Boy out of prison in Ghana when he was arrested for smoking weed. Shatta Wale sent me and some guys to go and free him from police custody,” he said.

The singer, however, did not disclose when the alleged incident happened or the exact location of the arrest in Ghana.

Captan further alleged that Burna Boy once sought refuge with Shatta Wale and his associates after being targeted by some dangerous individuals.

According to him, the Ghanaian artiste and his team provided accommodation and support for the Nigerian singer during the difficult period.

“There was a time we also accommodated him when some people were after his life. We helped him settle the case,” he added.

Captan also revealed that his relationship with Burna Boy deteriorated following the Nigerian singer’s fallout with Shatta Wale.

The two African music stars were once believed to share a cordial relationship and publicly supported each other on several occasions before tensions reportedly emerged between them.

Although Captan did not state the exact cause of the disagreement, he suggested that Burna Boy’s strained relationship with Shatta Wale also affected his ties with members of the Shatta Movement camp.

Despite the reported fallout, Captan said both he and Shatta Wale are willing to reconcile with Burna Boy if the singer makes the move for peace.

He maintained that there was no permanent hostility and hinted that reconciliation remained possible between the parties.
