Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), May 27, GNA – Heavy security presence has been deployed at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Bono Region as Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, celebrates his 60th birthday.

Although the township remains calm, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed security personnel stationed at major intersections along the principal streets.

Visitors entering the town and the Abanpredease Palace, venue of the celebration, are subjected to thorough screening by security officials.

Billboards bearing images of the Dormaahene have been mounted along major streets to welcome guests.

The entrance of the palace is decorated with portraits of the Paramount Chief adorned in various traditional regalia, casual wears, suits and ceremonial gowns.

At a colourful ceremony held at the palace, Mr Prince Bekala, owner of Jegri Bekala Mining Company, presented a brand-new Rolls-Royce vehicle to the chief, who is also President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.

The gift marks the second vehicle presented by Mr Bekala, following a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 gifted to the Dormaahene during his 59th birthday celebration last year.

The event was attended by Lady Anna Agyemang Badu, wife of the Dormaahene, his children, Odeneho Akosua Fima Dwabeng II, Paramount Queen Mother of the Dormaa Traditional Area, and several chiefs and queen mothers.

Other dignitaries included Odeneho Kwafo Akoto, Akwamuhene of the Suma Traditional Area, and Nana Yaw Sammor Dua II, Paramount Chief of the Sampa Traditional Area.

As part of activities marking the celebration, artistes such as Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata and Kwabena Kwabena are expected to perform at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Sports Stadium.

The occasion featured a breakfast meeting and musical performances, with patrons dressed in white to honour the Dormaahene, known in private life as Justice Daniel Mensah, a High Court Judge.
