The National Youth Service Corps in Osun has extended the service year of 12 corps members from the 2025 Batch A Stream 11 for various offences committed during their service year.

This is contained in a statement issued by the scheme’s spokesperson, Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Osogbo.

The NYSC Osun Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Kubiangha, said that 2,132 corps members had successfully completed the mandatory one-year national service and had been issued Certificates of National Service.

Kubiangha disclosed that 27 corps members were declared absconders in line with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws, while 12 others had their service extended for various offences and acts of indiscipline.

He congratulated the outgoing corps members on the successful completion of their service year and commended them for their contributions to the development of their host communities.

He urged corps members to safeguard their Certificates of National Service and protect the integrity of the scheme.

“I want to caution corps members against partisan political activities and statements capable of exposing them to danger ahead of the forthcoming elections in the state.

“I urge you to remain security conscious, law-abiding and focused on self-development and economic independence,” he said.

The coordinator described the scheme as a platform for personal growth and national development, while urging corps members to uphold the values of discipline, patriotism and integrity imbibed during service.

Kubiangha presented Certificates to eligible corps members and Certificates of Commendation to outstanding Corps Liaison Officers for exemplary service.
