WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis announced Monday the signing of Connor Doig, an 18-year-old junior standout from South Africa, who will join the Bears as a freshman. Doig brings a world junior ranking that peaked at No. 36 and an ATP singles ranking that reached as high as No. 1,489.

“We’re incredibly excited to add Connor to our Baylor family,” head coach Michael Woodson said. “What stands out most about him is his genuine love for the game, his competitiveness and the work ethic he brings every single day. Connor has already had tremendous success all over the world on the ITF Junior Circuit (including winning the Australian Open Junior Doubles Title this year), and that experience will help him transition smoothly to the college level. Beyond his talent on the court, we believe his personality, humility and team-first mentality make him a perfect fit for the culture we’ve built here at Baylor.”

A right-handed player, Doig has competed on the ITF Junior circuit across five continents since his early teens, earning results on clay, hard and grass courts. In 2026, Doig returned to Melbourne for his second straight Australian Open junior main draw appearance, taking the title for his seventh career title won, first junior Grand Slam title.  Doig continued competing at high-level J300 and J500 tournaments throughout Europe, including the Trofeo Bonfiglio in Milan. He has also gained professional experience on the South African ATP M15 circuit, highlighted by a quarterfinal appearance in Hillcrest in July 2025.

His breakout season came in 2024 when he captured back-to-back ITF J100 titles in Bloemfontein and Potchefstroom before reaching the final of the ITF/CAT African Closed Championships in Cairo. Those performances helped him rise to a career-high junior world ranking of No. 36.

He carried that momentum into 2025, earning spots in the main draws of multiple junior Grand Slam events. After reaching the third round of Australian Open qualifying, Doig advanced to the second round of the French Open junior draw at Roland Garros and later qualified for the Wimbledon junior main draw at the All England Club. He also made a run to the Round of 16 at the prestigious Eddie Herr International in Bradenton, Florida.

Doig has competed in more than 15 countries and faced players from around the world, including South Africa, Australia, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Germany, Brazil, Egypt and the United States. He will join the Bears in Waco this fall as a freshman.
