Rainfall is expected in several parts of the country, with the Kenya Meteorological Department warning
of enhanced activity over the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley in the
latest weather outlook.

The forecast indicates that while some regions
will experience intermittent sunshine, scattered showers and thunderstorms are
likely in multiple areas, alongside strong winds in selected counties.

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake
Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley are expected to record showers and thunderstorms
in a few places tonight.

Similar conditions are forecast in the afternoon,
while morning hours will be mainly sunny with isolated rainfall.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley,
including Nairobi County, showers are expected in a few places tonight.

The
region will experience mainly sunny intervals with occasional morning rains,
followed by scattered showers in the afternoon.

Northwestern Kenya is expected to receive
showers and thunderstorms in a few areas tonight, with sunny intervals and light
morning rains. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are also likely in isolated
places. Strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5m/s) are also
expected over parts of Turkana County.

Northeastern Kenya will remain partly cloudy
tonight, with sunny intervals expected throughout the day. However, strong
southerly to southeasterly winds of more than 25 knots (12.5m/s) are expected
across parts of Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Isiolo counties.

The southeastern lowlands are forecast to
remain partly cloudy tonight, with mainly sunny intervals and isolated morning
rains, before largely sunny conditions in the afternoon. Strong southerly winds
exceeding 25 knots (12.5m/s) are also expected in parts of Makueni and Kitui
counties.

The coastal region is expected to experience
showers in a few places tonight, continuing into the morning and afternoon
hours, with strong southerly winds of over 25 knots (12.5m/s) expected along
the entire coastal strip.

Meteorological
authorities have urged residents in affected regions to remain cautious,
particularly in areas expected to experience strong winds and thunderstorms.

The forecast comes amid ongoing heavy rains that have affected several parts of the country in recent weeks, raising concerns over flooding, poor visibility on roads and possible landslides in vulnerable areas.

Authorities have urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and observe safety precautions during the rainy period.

Residents were advised against walking or driving through moving water due to the risk of drowning or vehicles being swept away by strong currents.

The Meteorological Department also cautioned people against sheltering under trees or near grilled windows during thunderstorms because of the danger posed by lightning strikes and strong winds.

People living in landslide-prone and low-lying areas have been further advised to exercise caution as heavy rains continue.

Motorists have also been urged to drive carefully during heavy rains due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
