Late Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, reportedly married and fathered a child before he passed away.

According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, the deceased quietly lived as a married man and father while keeping his family life completely away from public scrutiny due to the painful end of his widely reported engagement to his US-based girlfriend.

According to a statement released by his family, the actor was described as a “husband, son, brother, and friend,” a description that suggested that the late actor had quietly built a family life away from public attention before his passing.

Many people, particularly colleagues of the late actor, were left in shock following the revelation because the actor never publicly announced any marriage or child throughout his years in the entertainment industry.

Findings from industry conversations revealed that Ekubo’s broken engagement, which dominated entertainment headlines at the time, reportedly subjected him to intense public scrutiny and online criticism, turning him into a constant target of commentary and speculation.

Sources close to his professional circle claimed that the experience influenced his decision to withdraw personal matters from public discussion, especially relationships that could attract media attention or online interference.

Some colleagues also admitted they were unaware of his alleged marriage or fatherhood, saying he kept such details strictly within family circles and avoided discussing them even with close industry associates.

The actor battled serious health challenges privately, including complications from a kidney transplant, but he chose not to make them public to avoid unnecessary attention or sympathy-driven narratives.

According to insiders, his decision to maintain silence was also shaped by a desire to protect his family from online bullying, particularly persistent social media attacks and recurring speculation about his sexuality.

Over the years, the actor had often been the subject of online debates and rumours, a situation believed to have contributed to his preference for a more guarded and private personal life.

The family statement also referenced his strength and resilience, describing him as someone who faced his struggles with courage, faith, and hope, even while keeping his pain away from public view.
