The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seven officers of the Tema Regional Police Command for what authorities describe as “exceptional operational performance” during an armed robbery response in Tema.
The promotions, announced on April 14, 2026, follow a recent anti-robbery operation at Tema Community 5, where officers responded to an attack on a Mobile Money vendor that escalated into a shootout with suspects.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the confrontation led to the shooting of two robbery suspects and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and other exhibits linked to the crime.
The promoted officers are Chief Inspector Enoch Nartey Nuer, Inspector Gershon Dekpey, Inspector Prince Asante, Sergeant Lukman Mohammed, Sergeant Eugene Kuudouru, Corporal Jerome Akator, and Lance Corporal Jonathan Sewurah.
The Police Management Board (POMAB), together with the IGP, congratulated the officers, praising their conduct during the operation and their response under pressure.
“The officers responded to a robbery attack on a Mobile Money vendor at Tema Community 5 leading to the shooting of two robbery suspects and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and other exhibits,” the service said.
The IGP urged the officers to see the promotion as a responsibility beyond personal advancement, encouraging personnel across the service to maintain discipline and professionalism in ongoing operations.
The recognition comes as Ghana Police intensifies efforts to tackle violent street crime and armed robbery incidents in urban and commercial areas, particularly within the Tema enclave.
