The Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Julius Debrah, has called for a deliberate shift in Ghana’s economic model from commerce to production and innovation.
He said the country must prioritise industrialisation, value addition and enterprise development to achieve sustainable growth.
Speaking at this year’s Kwahu Business Forum on Friday, April 3, Mr Debrah urged business leaders and policymakers to take bold steps towards building a production-driven economy.
“This is our time, not merely to discuss Ghana’s economic destiny, but to build it… our time to move from an economy known mainly for commerce into one respected for production, transformation and competitive strength,” he said.
He emphasised the need for collaboration between government, businesses and investors to drive industrial growth and create jobs.
The Chief of Staff noted that the country’s economic future depends on its ability to convert potential into tangible outcomes such as factories, exports and innovation.
“Let business lead with courage, let government support with clarity, let capital move with confidence,” he added.
He further stressed the importance of mentorship and leadership continuity in building a resilient private sector capable of driving long-term economic transformation.
