  • The launch of Silva Gigiri was presided over by Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale on Friday, March 27
  • Bishar told TUKO.co.ke that the project is anticipated to meet the demand for accommodation brought on by the increasing number of UN employees

TUKO.co.ke journalist Japhet Ruto has over eight years of experience in financial, business, and technology reporting, offering insights into Kenyan and global economic trends.

The project, spearheaded by Mohamed Bishar, founder of Season Global, a logistics and supply chain company operating across six African countries, targets high-net-worth individuals, expatriates, and diaspora investors.

This came as market estimates indicate that prices of high-quality residential properties in Nairobi’s prime suburbs, such as Gigiri, Karen, Runda, and Muthaiga, have risen by an average of five to eight per cent annually, while rental yields remain competitive at six to eight per cent.

According to Kenyan real estate firm HassConsult, property prices in the city rose in quarter four of 2025, driven by high demand.

How will Silva Gigiri impact Nairobi’s economy?

The launch of Silva Gigiri was presided over by Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale on Friday, March 27.

The luxurious homes feature 185 units, with 83 units on sale.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Bishar revealed that the project is anticipated to meet the demand for accommodation brought on by the increasing number of UN employees and other expatriates in the city, while providing employment opportunities to the youth.

“The project is valued at over KSh 2 billion and is expected to have a significant impact on Nairobi’s economy. While only a limited number of units will be available for sale, the overall development is much larger and is designed as a hotel-style suite concept. The project is also expected to support accommodation demand driven by the growing number of UN staff in the city,” he explained.

He revealed that in the short term, the project created 300 job opportunities for the youth, but it will create a similar number in the long term.

“In 30 months we created 300 jobs for the youth. In the long-term, we are looking at over 300 permanent jobs.”

According to Bishar, the project represents a significant change in Africa’s real estate market in terms of sustainability, wellbeing, and long-term impact.

“It promotes sustainable urban living, with features such as EV charging and bike-friendly infrastructure, encouraging residents to cycle to work and reduce traffic congestion in Nairobi,” the businessman reiterated.

What are the cheapest estates to live in Nairobi?

In other news, the World Population Review estimates that Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, is home to six million people.

The demand for homes will rise as the city’s population is predicted to double to 8.4 million by 2035.

Low-income people can find cheaper places to live in some parts of the Nairobi Metropolitan region, such as Kangemi, Ruai, and Wangige.
