Accra, March 29, GNA – Candace Academy have launched the third season of its Safety for All Campaign, expanding a nationwide child‑protection programme aimed at teaching school children how to recognise risks and protect themselves.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, Madam Hannah Humphrey, Executive Director of Candace Academy said the initiative had evolved from a small awareness project into a national effort supported by educators, parents and partner institutions.
“Children may not always be able to control their environment, but they can be taught to understand it, navigate it and protect themselves,” Madam Humphrey said.
The first two seasons of the campaign reached thousands of pupils across the country, offering lessons on personal boundaries, emergency awareness, safe behaviour on roads and in schools, and how to seek help when in danger.
According to Madam Humphrey, demand for training increased as teachers and parents began observing behavioural changes in children who had participated.
Season 3 introduces an expanded curriculum that includes a Child Personal Safety Education Module, digital‑safety workshops, emotional‑wellbeing sessions and a new School Safety Ambassadors Programme.
“Our goal is to reach more children, more schools and more communities than ever before,” Humphrey said, calling for stronger partnerships, logistical support and advocacy from stakeholders.
She urged government bodies, corporate organisations and NGOs to help integrate safety education into more schools nationwide, saying that “every contribution—large or small—helps a child somewhere learn how to protect themselves.”
The event also featured the launch of “Taekwondo for Us,” a book promoting discipline, confidence and self‑defence among young learners.
Humphrey said Candace Academy would continue refining its materials and expanding its facilitator training to ensure child‑friendly, practical learning.
“Every child deserves to be safe—not by chance, but by knowledge and empowerment,” she said.
Mr Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of National Sports Authority, commended Madam Humphrey, a celebrated Taekwondo athlete for her dedication to ensure safety in the Taekwondo sport.
“I will recommend all schools and parents to buy the book so enable their children know the basics of protecting themselves while enjoying the Taekwondo sports,” he said.
The new taekwondo guide is available in all major bookshops across the country.
