March 27, (THEWILL) — The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London, as part of a landmark Nigerian private sector delegation during the country’s first state visit to the United Kingdom in 37 years.

Agboola was joined by prominent Nigerian business leaders, including Tony Elumelu and Jim Ovia, as part of efforts to deepen commercial ties between Nigeria and Britain and position Nigeria as a key investment gateway to Africa.

A central highlight of the visit was the UK–Nigeria Business Summit held at Mansion House, where policymakers and business leaders discussed strengthening financial and technology infrastructure to support cross-border trade and capital flows. Discussions also focused on how Nigeria’s evolving digital payments ecosystem, supported by platforms such as Flutterwave, could facilitate British investments into African markets.

Speaking during the engagement, Agboola described the visit as a defining moment for Nigeria’s private sector and the growing role of technology in global commerce.

According to him, Flutterwave was built to connect Africa to the global economy and will continue to invest in infrastructure, partnerships, and trust required to make cross-border payments faster, more secure, and more accessible for businesses and consumers.

At the centre of the economic discussions was the £8.1 billion trade corridor under the Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership (ETIP) framework, which is expected to guide commercial cooperation between Nigeria and the United Kingdom over the next decade.

The visit signals Nigeria’s push to move beyond traditional diplomatic engagements toward a structured, technology-driven economic partnership aimed at unlocking investment, expanding trade, and strengthening financial connectivity between both countries.
