Former Samuel Inkoom believes the impressive form of Antoine Semenyo could play a decisive role in Ghana national football team’s quest for success at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.
Semenyo, 26, completed a move to Manchester City from AFC Bournemouth during the January transfer window and has quickly made an impact at the Premier League champions.
Since his debut, the forward has scored six goals in 11 appearances, including a recent strike against Leeds United, helping City maintain momentum in their title push.
Speaking to Connect FM, Inkoom expressed confidence that Semenyo’s current form could significantly influence Ghana’s prospects on football’s biggest stage.
“If Semenyo stays consistent, Ghana can make it to the finals of the 2026 World Cup,” the former FC Basel right back who played at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa said.
The Black Stars will be making their fifth appearance at the global tournament and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.
As part of preparations, the team will regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team, before a final warm-up clash with Mexico national football team in May.
The four-time African champions will be based at Bryant University in the United States for the duration of the tournament.
