The MTN Ghana Foundation on Thursday handed over a newly completed Accident and Emergency (A&E) block to the Ho Teaching Hospital, bringing upgraded emergency care to the Volta Region as the telecom giant marks its 30th year of operations in Ghana.

The ceremony in Ho brought together traditional authorities, community leaders, health professionals, and foundation representatives to commission the facility, which was initiated in June 2024 and took approximately 21 months to complete.

The expanded A&E block is equipped with modern medical equipment designed to improve emergency response times, patient flow, and clinical outcomes at one of the country’s major referral hospitals serving the Volta Region and beyond.

The handover is the latest in a series of health infrastructure projects delivered by the MTN Ghana Foundation, which in 2024 commissioned a 60-bed maternity and neonatal centre at the Keta Municipal Hospital. The Foundation’s Save a Life blood donation programme has collected more than 46,000 units of blood for the National Blood Service since its inception.

The investment in the Ho Teaching Hospital comes as MTN Ghana, operating as Scancom PLC, reported its strongest annual financial results to date. The company posted a profit after tax of GHS7.8 billion for 2025, a 55.9 percent increase over the prior year, while paying a record GHS10.5 billion in combined direct and indirect taxes to the state, a 22.6 percent rise year on year.

MTN Ghana Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett has committed to investing more than $300 million in the country’s telecommunications infrastructure in 2026, with 500 new network sites planned to close coverage gaps in peri-urban and rural communities.

The Foundation, established in November 2007, has invested over GHS100 million across approximately 178 projects in all 16 regions of Ghana, spanning health, education, enterprise development, and agriculture.
