Nigerian singer Ajulu is set to captivate fans once again with his upcoming third album, Dreams I Can’t Remember, promising a musical journey that blends multiple styles and genres. In a recent interview, the singer shared insights into his creative process, inspirations, and the message behind his new music.
Speaking about his latest single, Echezona, Ajulu described it as “like a conversation between a mother and her son,” exploring the theme of forgetting one’s roots. “It was inspired by my mother,” he said, emphasizing the importance of staying grounded while pursuing success. The song is a soft, mellow afro-highlife track influenced by the legendary Senegalese musician Youssou N’Dour and the iconic Birima sound.
The track’s poignant closing line, “you fly so high you have forgotten how to land,” serves as a reminder for listeners to keep their feet on the ground even as they chase worldly ambitions.
Ajulu described the experience of releasing new music as euphoric. “It’s like giving birth after a long labour,” he said, capturing the thrill and satisfaction that comes with sharing his artistry with fans.
Looking ahead, Ajulu expressed excitement about his forthcoming album, which is expected to drop in March. “I experimented with different styles and genres on this one, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone,” he revealed, hinting at a body of work that is both personal and musically diverse.
