Succour as victims of Cross River communal crisis receive relief materials

Relief has come to victims of the recent communal clashes in Obubra and Ikom Local Councils of Cross River State, as Senator Eteng Jonah Williams provided relief materials worth millions of naira.

The senator representing k collaborated with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its zonal office, to distribute essential items to residents of Ochon Ward in Obubra and Ofutop II Ward in Ikom.

Representing the senator at the event, his Senior Legislative Aide, Emmanuel Elemi, said the initiative was aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by victims and demonstrating solidarity with affected families.

Elemi led the delegation that delivered the materials to communities including Isabang, Ochon, Onyen Okpon and Odionget in Ochon Ward, as well as Ekukunela, Okosora and Abaragha in Ofutop II Ward.

He reaffirmed the senator’s commitment to his constituents, noting that the support formed part of ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable households and strengthen resilience across the district.

Residents expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, describing it as impactful and reassuring.

Items distributed included bags of rice and garri, wax wrappers, bags of iodised salt, cartons of vegetable oil, tomato paste and seasoning, 100 pieces of Guinea brocade, and other household supplies.

Traditional rulers, community leaders, women’s groups, youth organisations and political stakeholders attended the distribution, commending the senator for his responsive leadership and grassroots engagement.

Dignitaries present included the Councillor of Ofutop II Ward, Osim MacPeace; the Councillor of Ochon Ward, Richard Iyamba; and the Liaison Officers for Ikom and Obubra Local Government Areas, Theophilus Abri and Nton Joseph.
