Sompahene Nana Nankan Bruce I of Gomoa Esaabakrom, Millicent Bruce
Queen Mothers in Action Africa (QMIAA) has officially sworn in Millicent Bruce, also known in traditional circles as Sompahene Nana Nankan Bruce I of Gomoa Esaabakrom under the Gomoa Fetteh Traditional Council, as a Member of its Board of Directors. Her swearing-in follows her formal appointment to the Board after the successful legal incorporation of QMIAA as a Company Limited by Guarantee.
Queen Mothers in Action Africa (QMIAA) aims to empower queen mothers as traditional female leaders, advocate for women’s and children’s rights and social justice, include queen mothers in governance and policy-making, support community development projects in health, education and livelihoods, and preserve and strengthen traditional leadership roles for contemporary relevance. In short, QMIAA works to amplify the role of queen mothers in leadership, development, and advocacy across Africa.
Madam Bruce will serve an initial three-year term from February 2026 to February 2029, subject to renewal in accordance with the organisation’s constitution and the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992).
As a Board Member, she is expected to provide strategic leadership and oversight, contribute to the establishment of QMIAA’s strategic direction and mission, ensure financial sustainability and accountability, uphold corporate governance standards and advocate for the organisation at local, regional and national levels.
In line with the Companies Act, she is required to act in the best interest of the organisation, avoid conflicts of interest, and exercise due care and diligence in the discharge of her duties.
Millicent Bruce is an energy executive and Chief Executive Officer of Kwamss Energy.
She also serves on the boards of the Energy Quest Foundation and other organisations. In addition to her professional and traditional leadership roles, she is pursuing a PhD at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.
Her swearing-in marks a significant addition to the leadership of QMIAA, an organisation committed to empowering queen mothers and promoting community development initiatives across Africa. Nana Nankan Bruce I believes in developing her community through youth skills training and support for market traders.
She is actively working on collaborative partnerships to provide her community with the best in health, education, water, training, and trade through foreign partnerships and development initiatives.
Through her dual leadership roles, Nana Nankan Bruce I continues to champion projects aimed at advancing her community, promoting youth empowerment, market development, and strategic partnerships to drive sustainable social and economic growth.
