The President -General of Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has bagged a prestigious award in recognition of his valuable contributions towards Nigeria’s Socio-Economic and political development.
Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN disclosed in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the award was given by Landmark Africa Media Magazine commemoration of Nigeria’s 65th Independent Anniversary.
Ikemefuna added that the Management of Noble Landmark Africa Media Magazine from whom this noble award was made possible, described Comrade Bunu as one of the foremost labour leaders in the country, whose achievements in the industry within the shortest period of time cannot be overemphasized.
They further described Bubu as carrying out impactful leadership within the few periods of his leadership in the Union, adding that he had brought so much innovation, clarity of purpose, with distinct leadership to the maritime domain.
Comrade Bunu, according to award organisers is also known for his practical demonstration for labour activism right from his early days as a junior ranked Comrade in the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria, noting that he had continually demonstrated that Trade Unionism spirit with practical efficiency was not by mere vain spoken words or sweet oratory sounds.
The President -General who was unavoidably absent during the presentation of the Award, thanked the management of Noble Landmark Africa Media for their insight in the maritime industry and by finding him worthy enough for the prestigious award was an honour indeed merited.
The PG gave his words through the Secretary -General of the Union, Comrade Oniha Erazua, who received the award on his behalf, during the presentation of the plaque.
The management of the Union also thanked the publishers for always standing on the basic truth, urging them to keep up the good work.
