Tsiame (VR), Feb 13, GNA – Residents of Tsiame, Atiavi and other adjoining communities in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have commended the President John Dramani Mahama–led administration for announcing plans to transform the Tsiame and Atiavi Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) through major infrastructure development.
The government, through support from GETFund, has allocated funding for the projects, which are expected to significantly improve teaching and learning in the beneficiary schools.
Mr Wonder Setsoafia Deynu, Deputy Communication Officer of the Keta National Democratic Congress (NDC), told the Ghana News Agency that key leaders including Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education; Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister; Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Member of Parliament for Keta; and Mr Wisdom Seade, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive; are championing the initiative.
He said the project is designed to enhance quality education by providing students with a conducive learning environment supported by modern facilities.
Mr Deynu outlined several components of the project, including a two‑storey dormitory block with a courtyard to provide safe and comfortable accommodation for students.
He noted that the facility would house a substantial number of students and offer an improved environment for study and personal development.
He added that an 18‑unit, three‑storey classroom block would be constructed to deliver state‑of‑the‑art learning spaces equipped with modern teaching aids to promote effective teaching and learning.
The schools are also expected to benefit from a new dining hall with a kitchen to ensure that students receive nutritious meals to support their academic work and growth.
Furthermore, the project includes the construction of two‑bedroom staff bungalows to provide decent accommodation for teachers, aimed at improving their comfort, retention and commitment to academic work.
To ensure safety and security, a 1.4‑kilometre perimeter fence with gates will be built to protect students, staff and school property.
Mr Deynu called on constituency executives, branch executives and NDC sympathisers in the Keta area to support the smooth execution of the project.
The initiative has been described as a transformative milestone for education in the municipality, with community members eagerly anticipating its completion and the positive impact it is expected to bring.
A sod-cutting ceremony for the various projects is scheduled for Monday, February 16, at the beneficiary schools.
