Coach Prince Owusu is not fit for Kotoko coaching job – Asante Kotoko SC circles PRO

Asante Kotoko SC, following the departure of their head coach Abdul Karim Zito confirmed Prince Owusu to handle the side on interim bases as they look to founding a replacement.

Zito personally resigned from his role after losing to Aduana FC in MTN FA Cup round 16 fixture. They lost 4-2 on penalties having missed from the spot in the first half of encounter.

Owusu, former Medeama SC trainer is expected to manage Asante Kotoko SC as interim manager till a new trainer is hired.

The Reds face arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC this Sunday in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier league biggest fixture. The epic clash will be the first assignment of Coach Prince Owusu, nonetheless some circles at the club believe Coach Owusu is not good enough to handler the Porcupine Warriors.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Asante Kotoko SC China Circle, Martin Tawiah says, the Ghanaian trainer despite having coaching capability can not manage the Kumasi-based outfit especially in this moment of the club.

“If management could part ways with someone like Karim Zito, it shouldn’t be Prince Owusu taking charge. The club is bigger than him, besides he’s not fit enough for the task at Kotoko”

“He can not lead Kotoko charges for any task deserving of victory”

“We us supporters, are pleading with management to terminate the appointment handed to coach Prince Owusu. We don’t need him at our bench” Kotoko at the moment needs a competent manager to lead us to the promise land”, Martin stated.

Kotoko currently sits 5th on the league log with 35 points. They are 8 points behind league leaders Medeama SC and just a point behind Hearts of Oak SC who lies 4th on the standing.
