Francis-Xavier Sosu narrates how Naser Toure hid him when the Akufo-Addo government tried to arrest Francis-Xavier Sosu narrates how Naser Toure hid him when the Akufo-Addo government tried to arrest

The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has opened up about the times the late MP for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, came to his help when he was in deep trouble.

Speaking at the home of the late MP, where he went to pay his last respects together with some of his colleagues from the Majority Caucus, Sosu narrated how the late MP helped him flee the country when attempts were made to arrest him under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.

He said it was Naser who bought the plane ticket for him to travel to the United States when the Akufo-Addo government wanted to “persecute” him.

“In 2021, when I led a demonstration for roads in Madina and the Akufo-Addo government decided to persecute me, they came and attempted to arrest me at the church. Honourable Muntaka came and whisked me away from the church, took me to Parliament and then back to my house. It was Honourable Naser, Honourable Jaja and Abogza who were with me and hiding me.

“I remember that night they took me, hid me in Hon. Jaja’s house, and Hon. Naser had to go and look for money for me to be on a flight to travel that same night to the US so that Akufo-Addo would not arrest me,” he said.

The Madina legislator also disclosed that the late Naser was the person who helped him put up an office in his constituency.

“So when I, in fact, and I remember the last time in Parliament before we left, I was also senior. He said, ‘Senior, there’s something small for you, go and see.’ That was the last conversation I had with him. So when I heard that he was gone, I was very shocked. I prayed that Almighty Allah would have mercy on his soul and that he would be kept in peace with Almighty Allah. Thank you very much,” he said.
