Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Mr Henry Quartey, former Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, have commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the party’s presidential primary.
Mr Kodua, during a visit to the Ayawaso Central Constituency Presby Park to observe the exercise, said the NPP had a long-standing tradition of internal democracy, having successfully conducted such competitive exercises since 1992.
“I am proud today because there is orderliness everywhere and the processes are going on well. This is the hallmark of the NPP,” he said.

He said the party’s victory in the 2028 general election would require collective effort rather than the work of any single individual, urging members to close their ranks and work together.
“Our victory in 2028 will depend on unity. If we are able to close our ranks and understand that we need everyone on board, our work will be much easier,” he added.
Mr Kodua said all five aspirants had given their word to support the eventual winner of the primary, describing the commitment as “heartwarming and refreshin,” and a demonstration of true patriotism.
Mr Kodua lauded the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police Service, and the delegates for their professionalism, discipline and good comportment throughout the exercise.
Mr Quartey, on his part, expressed confidence that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia would emerge victorious in the day’s primary, noting that irrespective of the outcome, the NPP would rally behind the winner ahead of the 2028 elections.

“At the end of the day, the real victor will be the NPP, and we will all rally behind the winner,” he said.
He observed that voting across the country had been calm, with delegates casting their ballots without fear or intimidation.
Mr Quartey urged delegates to come out in their numbers to vote and assured them that after the primary, the party would put its house in order and mobilise its supporters for the 2028 Elections.
