Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Bryan Yaw Acheampong, has expressed strong confidence of securing an overwhelming victory in the Eastern Region, projecting a 90% win as delegates cast their ballots in the party’s primaries.
Speaking to journalists in Abetifi after participating in the voting process, Dr Acheampong said the mood among delegates points to a clear desire for new leadership capable of uniting the party’s base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to him, his message of renewal and cohesion has resonated strongly with delegates, particularly in the Eastern Region, which he considers a critical stronghold for the party.
While expressing near-total confidence, Dr Acheampong acknowledged that internal party elections naturally attract diverse opinions, which may affect the possibility of a clean sweep in the region.
“I am extremely positive about this. I was expecting 100% in the Eastern Region, but we are dealing with a human institution where people have different opinions and views on issues, and that may affect my chances of getting 100%. But I assure you that I am going to get the majority of the votes in the Eastern Region,” he said.
