Deputy GTA CEO urges youth to promote Ghanaian culture ahead of IShowSpeed’s visit

By Simon Asare

Accra, Jan. 25, GNA – Mr Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has urged the youth to flood social media with “positive, powerful and authentic” posts ahead of the visit of popular streamer IShowSpeed.

The social media sensation is expected to arrive in Ghana on Monday, January 26, 2026 as part of his multi‑nation Africa tour, having visited some countries, including Liberia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, Benin and several others.

In a statement shared online, Abeiku Santana said the influencer’s visit created a “pop‑up moment” for young Ghanaians to “own the narrative” and highlight its culture and tourism appeal to a global audience.

“Create. Post. Share. Tell the Ghana story loud,” he said, adding the streamer’s arrival as an opportunity for Ghana to showcase its identity to millions of viewers.

Abeiku Santana described Ghana as one of the continent’s culturally rich countries and “a beacon of democracy”, urging content creators to spotlight the nation’s music traditions.

He also encouraged creators to highlight Ghana’s significance in the history of the transatlantic slave trade and its connection to African diaspora communities.

The GTA Deputy CEO said digital storytelling had become an increasingly important marketing tool, arguing that online engagement could enhance Ghana’s positioning as a tourism destination offering diverse experiences.

“We love football; we have the best musicians and creative talent. We have the first largest artificial lake in the world. Let’s push ourselves to the world through this radical influencer,” Abeiku Santana said.

IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr, has made waves and dominated the internet during this African tour, and his visit to Ghana promises to be an exciting one.
