Empress Gifty and Agradaa have been in court lately Empress Gifty and Agradaa have been in court lately

Richard Asare Baffour, a member of the legal team for popular priestess-turned-pastor Nana Agradaa, has clarified the reasons behind the payment of a sum of GH¢100,000 to Empress Gifty.

Speaking to the media on January 21, Baffour referenced some news reports that Agradaa had been ordered by the High Court to pay the money to Empress Gifty.

According to him, the payment wasn’t a court order but rather an out-of-court agreement by the two parties to settle the legal fees of Empress Gifty.

“I saw some reports that Agradaa was ordered to pay the sum of GH¢100,000 to Empress Gifty, but that is not the case.

“The case is that the payment was an amicable resolution. What happened was that both parties had met to try to resolve the issue out of court since they were both Christians. So, it is only fair that Agradaa settles Empress Gifty’s legal fees,” he stated.

He further stated that; “It was initially GH¢150,000, but we later agreed that she should pay two-thirds of the amount, which is GH¢100,000. So, it wasn’t that she was ordered to pay the amount; it was a solution between both parties.”

Agradaa’s appeal against 15-year jail term adjourned to February 5

Meanwhile, the case of appeal against the 15-year jail term of Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been adjourned to February 5, 2026.

On January 21, 2026, she appeared before the Amasaman Circuit Court for the hearing, where her lawyers pushed for a reduction of the sentence.

According to Nana Agradaa’s lawyers, the court directed both the appellant and the state to file their written addresses.

However, the Attorney General’s office requested additional time, explaining that its address was not yet ready.

Agradaa is currently serving her term at the Nsawam Female Prison after an Accra Circuit Court handed her a 15-year conviction on July 3, 2025, for charlatanic advertising and defrauding by false pretences.

She was accused of taking various sums of money from church attendees after promoting supposed money-doubling powers.
