Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her personal life, education and career journey.

Naija News reports that in a video shared on her official Facebook page, the outspoken public figure gave fans a rare look into parts of her life that are often ignored because of her fame and controversies.

The mother of one while speaking directly to her followers, surprised many by revealing that she is a trained Petrochemical Engineer.

She explained that she studied Petrochemical Engineering at Rivers State University, formerly known as Rivers State University of Science and Technology.

Tonto said that although this detail has been in her biography for years, people hardly talk about it because most attention has always been on her acting career and public life.

She also reminded her fans of her brief entry into politics, recalling how she emerged in 2022 as the deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Rivers State for the 2023 election, alongside Tonte Ibraye.

Though the ticket did not win, her move into politics drew wide attention at the time.

The thespian also revealed said she only acted for four years and added that she does not see herself as an actress.

According to her, her strong personality made her stand out and helped people remember her, even with her short time in the movie industry.

She wrote: “Did you all know I am a pet/Chemical engineer by profession? Ex deputy Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate rivers state 2023? And I acted for only 4years but coconut head carried me through to be unforgettable in the grand scheme of things. I acted for only 4years. I am not an actress.”

Tonto Dikeh became popular in Nollywood in the late 2000s after featuring in movies like Holy Cross.

She quickly rose to fame and became one of the most talked-about actresses of her time.

However, in recent years, she has reduced her acting roles and shifted her focus to business, charity work and social advocacy.
