Sister Defends Destiny Boy’s Mother Over Curse Allegation

The elder sister of late Afrobeat singer, Destiny Boy, has dismissed claims that their mother, Saidat Adeshina, cursed the artiste before his death, describing the allegation as false and malicious.

News of the singer’s demise went viral on social media on Sunday, sparking a wave of reactions and conflicting narratives about events preceding his death.

Earlier, Saidat had explained that her son’s health challenges began about two years ago while preparations were underway for the naming ceremony of his first child.

According to her, the family explored every possible option, medical and traditional, in search of a cure. She said Destiny Boy was eventually referred to an Ifa priest, Ifayomi Oba Edu, whom he regarded as a father figure.

She described the ailment as ‘Oku or’, noting that whenever it struck, the singer would become stiff like someone experiencing epilepsy and later display symptoms similar to a mental disorder when he recovered.

Saidat added that the family deliberately kept the illness away from public attention.

However, controversy erupted after a TikTok live session hosted by a popular TikToker, during which old footage of Saidat was played.

In the clip, Saidat was heard angrily rebuking her son during a disagreement, saying, “You dare curse Rodiat? And you know me. You have been trying to build your house for the past 10 years you could not. You are useless. Unless I am not your mother, will my curses not come to pass?”

The video triggered public outrage, with some social media users calling for her arrest.

Reacting in a now-trending video, Destiny Boy’s elder sister came to their mother’s defence, accusing the TikToker of promoting a damaging narrative.

“I am Destiny Boy’s sister. I am seeing something that is going viral on TikTok and Facebook, where bloggers are writing about it,” she said.

She questioned the logic behind the allegation, asking, “Did you see it when Destiny’s mother killed her own son? Because you are cursing Destiny Boy’s mother now. Is it possible for a mother to kill her own child?”

According to her, the video only captured a family disagreement.

“He fought with my mother. And my mum was talking to him so that he would listen to her and obey her,” she explained.

She also challenged claims linking her brother to money rituals. “You also said he did a money ritual. Were you there when he did it?” she asked.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command on Monday confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the death of the singer, as investigations continue.
