Nigerian singer Harrison Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has said his long-running dispute with his former label boss, Kcee, had a negative effect on his music career, especially his creative process.
Naija News reports that the feud between Harrysong and Kcee’s 5ive Star Music became public in 2017 after the Delta-born artiste accused the label of holding back his royalties, treating him unfairly, and limiting his creative freedom.
The disagreement later grew stronger when Harrysong claimed he helped write several hit songs recorded by Kcee, leading to back-and-forth reactions from both sides.
While speaking during an interview on Jusmen 105.7 FM, Harrysong explained that the feud often took his attention away from making music.
He said his focus shifted from recording songs to thinking about how to respond to Kcee, which slowed down his progress and reduced his creative output.
The singer revealed that the issue has now been settled, as he and Kcee, along with 5ive Star Music, have resolved their differences.
He also shared that he has matured over time and learned how to handle public disputes better.
According to him, controversies no longer disturb his work, as he has developed a stronger mindset that allows him to concentrate fully on his music and career growth.
“The beef with Kcee used to distract me, it used to affect the music. Because most of the time, instead of recording, I would be thinking of how to reply Kcee and continue to fight. So, it distracted me. It affected my creativity,” Harrysong said.
