GRA projects GH₵225bn revenue target for 2026 following VAT reform

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has set a revenue target of GH₵225 billion for 2026, following the implementation of recent VAT reforms.

Under the reforms, businesses dealing in goods are now required to register for VAT only when their annual turnover reaches GH₵750,000, up from the previous threshold of GH₵200,000.

Additionally, the NHIL and GETFund levies have been de-coupled for input tax claims, the VAT rate has been reduced to 20%, and the VAT Flat Rate Scheme has been abolished.

Speaking to journalists after appearing before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Monday, January 12, 2026, the Commissioner General of the GRA, Anthony Sarpong, emphasised the Authority’s commitment to ensuring domestic tax compliance to achieve the target.

“We project GH₵225 billion, and at GRA, this is our core mandate. From the beginning of this year, we are working effectively to ensure we deliver on revenue mobilisation. We believe that revenue mobilisation is the lifeblood of our national development, without which the vision of the President will not be achieved,” he said.
